Introduction - Josh McDonald

My name is Josh McDonald and I'm a Junior at Utah State.  I'm planning on majoring in Speech Communications with a Marketing minor.  I've been going to USU for just over three years now and I love it.  I am from Fairview Heights, Illinois which is an eastern suburb of St. Louis.  Though my family has been in the St. Louis area for almost ten years I have lived all over the country as my dad was in the Air Force when I was younger.  I was born in Florida, moved to Ohio, then to Virginia, then St. George, Utah, and back to Virginia before my family finally settled in Fairview Heights.

I come from a family of five children, me being the second oldest.  My older sister, Megan, lives with her husband, Ryan, and their two children in Belleville, Illinois.  She has a son, Colin who just turned 4 years old, and a daughter Peyton, who is 4 months.  My younger brother, Jason, studies Engineering at the University of Illinois.  My sister Rachel attends BYU-Idaho and my youngest brother Ryan, is a sophomore in high school and just got his driver's license.  On November 19, 2011 I married my wife Joni who will graduate from USU in May with a degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement for English as a Second Language.  I am very family oriented and my family means the world to me!

My passion in life has always been sports.  I am currently an intern with Utah State's Athletic Department as part of the Marketing and Promotions team.  I love my internship and it has given me a lot of experience with some behind the scene's action of live sports production.  I would love to work with sports after I graduate from Utah State and I think this class will allow me the opportunity to be a contributing member to the sports world as it is an ever growing industry for women.  Gender relations are very important in such a field as in the past women have had difficulty breaking into the industry.  I am excited to contribute the communications skills that I learn in this class to my every day life, both personally and professionally.
